Equipment I'd like to get: Herbs, mugwart and acupuncture tools so I can use my Yin-Yang Healing skill with a little more aplomb. A pair of Tonfa (police baton with a handle set at right-angles to the shaft). The Compendium II says a Karate-skilled character can use one of these in each hand durring combat at no penalty, gets +1 to damage on punches and can parry weapons. A pair of these would probably be pretty trivial to get; it's just two pieces of wood stuck together, but hey, we could make a mini-adventure out of it--Something to do while we're waiting for Ryan to show up. Buying Off Disadvantages: The 'Struggling' disadv can be bought of with 10 points, but I'm not sure how much cash it would require. Mebbe we could determine that one of these days. It would be fun to have a couple of adventures where he does some favors for the underground / police so he can buy of those reputation disads. Raising Attributes: This is definitely a long-term proposition as it costs quite a bit to raise these. The first candidates are my sub-par HT and ST scores, but heck, I wouldn't mind raising my IQ and DX someday, either. Enhancing Psi Abilities/Skills: I finally found the answer to my question on raising Psi powers after character creation; it was on the first page of the 'GURPS Psionics': Just spend the regular points per level to raise the power. Simple. This I can do on my own by saving up points, although if I want to use any Psi skills at higher power levels, I'll need to raise my ST attribute so I can take the fatigue... The 'Unusual Background' advantage made it possible for me to get Psionic skills, but it's a little difficult to learn new Psi skills. Having just purchased the 'GURPS Psionics' sourcebook, it's presented me with a whole raft of new ESP/Healing skills that I'd love to have H. C. learn. It would be fun to have some kind of adventure where we win the confidence of an old Gypsy Shaman, or meet a defrocked Hindu Llama who's been exiled to Trinidad, or take a boat trip to Africa and meet a Voodoo priest... You get the idea; somebody who knows the Psi skills I'm looking for and could teach them to me. Ideally, I'd love to pick up a 'Psi Trainer' NPC as a contact (spending points earned from the adventure to buy him), but just having the chance to learn the new Psi skills would be enough to make me happy. Enhancing Martial Arts Skills: It would be nice to learn the Boxing skill for the extra dodge benefits it bequeaths. This shouldn't be too hard, since it's just a normal skill. (Warning: This next bit is a little "pie in the sky".) The 'GURPS Martial Arts' sourcebook gives rules for gaining the 'Trained by a Master' and 'Weapon Master' advantages after character creation. Someday, way off in the distance, it might be fun to try getting these.
